Vacation in Mark Twain State Park, MO

May 30, 2010

Nik and I spent a week long vacation in Mark Twain State Park. It was beautiful despite the fact that it rained quite a lot while we were there. We relaxed, read several books each, hiked, sat around the campfire and soaked up some Mark Twain history. We visited Mark Twain’s birth place and saw the actual cabin he was born in. Then we spent a day in Hannibal right on the Mississippi River. We saw Mark Twain’s boyhood home and visited the museums. Another day we toured the surrounding counties and saw Union Covered Bridge, built in 1871 and the Clarence Cannon Dam that was built across the Salt River, creating Mark Twain Lake. But mostly, we just relaxed. We unplugged and it was wonderful.
